OMG! How elitist! O___O;


This applies to all forms of writing and everyone out there who wants to half-ass their work in whatever way. Seriously, those people make life painful, and not just for English teachers and their pets. Nothing bothers me more than written work that looks like it came out of a <some language> to English translator. You want someone to proofread a paper for you? Make their life easier by doing your own proofing before you hand it to them. Use spell check and grammar check responsibly. Neither feature is foolproof. You will make lives easier. Don't forget to tell the person what direction your paper is supposed to be headed in, just in case.


Then there is my contempt for the genre based almost entirely on the Internetz: fanfiction. That is, poor fanfiction. Self-insertion is BAD. Mary/Gary Sue/Stu is BAD. Inserting inappropriate romaji (i.e. REEH?! She's so KOWAII!) into your English fanfiction is a CRIME punishable by DEATH (at least, I will strive to make it that way). I wish more people would respect a character's (or a real person's--!)original sexual orientation. What is it with making everyone gay or lesbian? Or ' pairings' with four or five people? I'm not even going to touch crossovers. Too many people out there wouldn't know ' plausible' if it slapped them in the face and then set their lovely fanfiction on fire.


There is role playing too, but this rant is getting too long.


So now I have a stamp, the product of my general contempt for poor writing, whether it's horrid grammar or immature content. Whee.
